SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION

Young people, who are not receiving preparation classes in their school for the Sacraments, are invited to evening classes held in the Parochial Hall.  Parents / Guardians  should complete the enrolment form on the first evening.

First Confession and First Holy Communion class begins

this Tuesday 11th October at 6.00pm, class ends at 7.00pm;

Confirmation students next Wednesday 19th October,

SCRIPTURE AND PRAYER GROUP. 

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 18th October, in the Committee Room at 8.00pm. Reflections will be on readings for the 30th and 31st Sundays Year C.

 

BAPTISM

The next Baptismal Course takes placen on Tuesday 18th October in the Iona Room, Parochial Hall from 8.00pm to 9.30pm.  Please contact the Parish Office to register attendance or make enquiries.

 

SHOE BOX APPEAL

Bring joy to a child this Christmas by filling  a shoe box with some gifts. Suggestions for filling your box are on the leaflets in the Church porch. Please leave your filled shoe box in the Church Porch / Sacristy for collection. If you do not have a shoe box at home, there are some flat pack shoe boxes for you to take and return to Church, by Sunday 25th October.

PARISH VOLUNTEERS

It is a mandatory part of the Diocesan policy on safeguarding children

and adults that anyone volunteering in the parish must attend one of the Diocesan Safeguarding Information sessions.

If you are new to volunteering, are waiting on your application to be processed or have been previously vetted and have not attended the session please do so. The next information sessions will be held in St Malachy’s Parish Centre, Alfred St, Belfast.

LIVING YOUTH:  SUMMER PILGRIMAGE 2017

PRISON WEEK

An Ecumenical Service for ‘Prison Week’ will be celebrated in St Patrick’s Church,

Donegall St, Belfast, BT1 2FL on Wednesday 12th October at 7.00pm.

An invitation is extended to all those involved with prison life, those working with victims of crime and all those family members who have been affected by family members in prison.

Prison Week begins on Sunday 9th October and runs through to Saturday 15th October 2016

Children Jesus tells the story of the servant who comes in from a hard day’s work. He then cooks and cleans for his master because that is his job. In the same way, we are expected to work hard for God without expecting thanks.

ST COLMCILLE’S GUIDE UNIT WISH TO THANK

Families and Parishioners, who over the past number of years,  have helped the Guide Unit and now it’s time for us to thank you!

We are inviting you to the Guide Den this Wednesday 5th October between 6.30pm and 8.00pm to get a small insight into Guiding. We will be having a campfire, singing songs and making smores. This is also a great way to get to see our Unit in action, especially if you are interested in joining us or becoming a leader. We can’t wait to see you bring your family and friends. Bring a camp chair or a blanket if you wish.

This Friday 7th October come join in the fun and take part in the Camel Racing & Disco in the Parochial Hall. We are once again celebrating the Mission Month of October.  Mission Month gives us all the opportunity to reflect on our  baptismal call to bring Christ to others, which is a privilege in itself.  The gift we have been given, we are asked to give.

Children Jesus tells a story about a poor man who is so hungry he wants to eat the scraps from the rich man’s table. When he dies the poor man goes straight to heaven. The rich man wants to be there too, but it is too late for him!   He had many chances to do what God wanted – but he didn’t listen.

PATHWAYS – Adult Faith Development Programme at Drumalis  –

Enrol now for 2016-2018 intake.  Pathways is a broad-based adult faith development course which explores spirituality, theology and prayer.  Now in its eleventh year, Pathways is geared towards those who want to reflect about life, faith and relationships with God and others. The course takes place in the beautiful surroundings of Drumalis in Larne. No academic qualifications are necessary and there is no coursework attached.

NEWSPAPERS, PERIODICALS, BOOKLETS

There are a number of weekly and monthly publications for sale in the Church porch. These include – newspapers and periodicals which have reports, features and opinion pieces that reflect the richness, colour and variety of Catholic culture at home and abroad.

The CTS stand has booklets which explain the faith, teaching and life of the Catholic Church. They are based on Sacred Scripture, the Second Vatican Council documents, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The booklets provide authentic Catholic teaching; they address issues of life and of truth which are relevant to all. They aim to inform and educate readers on the many issues that people have to deal with today

Keep updated, informed and widen your knowledge and outlook by investing in buying some of these publications from time to time.

PARISH YOUTH GROUP

The Parish Youth Group meet every fortnight on Saturdays from 7.15pm – 9.00pm.

This is an opportunity for young people to meet in a safe environment where they feel bonded with the parish community and have good role models who foster the Catholic ethos.
