THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER – (Page 337, 452 & 495)

3rd Week of Easter

Readings : Sunday Cycle B, Weekday Cycle 1, Psalter Week 3

Cry out with joy to God, all the earth; O sing to the glory of his name.  O render him glorious praise, alleluia.
1st Reading (Acts 3:13-15, 17-19)  You killed the prince of life.  God, however, raised him from the dead.
Psalm Lift up the light of your face on us, O Lord.
2nd Reading (1 John 2:1-5)  He is the sacrifice that takes our sins away, and not only ours, but the whole world’s.
Acclamation Alleluia, alleluia!  Lord Jesus, explain the scriptures to us.  Make our hearts burn within us as you talk to us.  Alleluia!
Gospel (Luke 24:35-48)   So you see how it is written that the Christ would suffer and on the third day rise from the dead.
Children After his death and resurrection Jesus came to see his friends. He said, “Peace be with you.”  Jesus’ disciples were frightened, though, because they thought Jesus might be a ghost.  Jesus proved it was really him by eating a meal of fish with them.

The Christ had to suffer and on the third day rise from the dead; in his name repentance and remission of sins must be preached to all the nations, alleluia.

Have you ever considered a vocation to the priesthood? Have you felt called to serve Christ in the Church as a priest?  If so, take this opportunity to gather with other men who are discerning a vocation to the priesthood.

A Eucharistic Prayer Vigil for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life will take place in the Church of Mary, Mother of the Church, Saintfield, Co. Down on Thursday 30th April 2015 from 7.30pm – 10.00pm.  The Vigil will conclude with Mass at 9.00pm.

“Behind and before every vocation to the priesthood or to the consecrated life there is always the strong and intense prayer of someone: a grandmother, a grandfather, a mother, a father, a community…. This is why Jesus said: “Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest,” that is, God the Father, “to send out labourers into his harvest” (Mt 9:38). May these words of Pope Francis encourage us to come together to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life remembering that vocations are born in prayer and from prayer and only through prayer can they persevere and bear fruit.
