CORPUS CHRISTI – (Page 435, 452, 503-504)

9th Week in Ordinary Time

Readings : Sunday Cycle C, Weekday Cycle 2, Psalter Week 1

He fed them with the finest wheat and satisfied them with honey from the rock.
1st Reading (Genesis 14:18-20)  He brought bread and wine.
Psalm You are a priest forever, a priest like Melchizedek of old.
2nd Reading (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)   Everytime you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are prcolaiming the Lord’s death.
Acclamation Alleluia, alleluia!  I am the living bread which has come down from heaven, says the Lord.  Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever.  Alleluia!
Gospel (Luke 9:11-17)  They all ate as much as they wanted.
Children Jesus taught the huge crowd all about his kingdom and he healed those who were sick.  It was past lunchtime but there was no food.  The disciples only had five loaves and two fish and there were more than five thousand people!  Jesus blessed the food.  He then broke the bread and passed the food to his friends to hand out to all the people.  Everyone had enough to eat and there were even twelve baskets of scraps left.

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him, says the Lord.

There is still opportunity to join the rota (details beside Bulletin box in the porch of the Church) or feel free to drop in at anytime during these hours.

CHAPEL OF ADORATION – Arrangements are being made to furnish the Chapel with a new tabernacle, seating, kneelers etc over the next few weeks to create a space of reverence, dignity and beauty. This will be such a blessing for the parish and future generations. If you wish to sponsor or make a contribution towards the cost of an item, envelopes with further details of these items are available at the back of the Church. They can be returned to the parish office for the Parish Adoration Committee, put in the Offertory Collection basket next weekend or given to Fr Feeney.  All contributions will be acknowledged.

“The signs he works, especially in favour of sinners, the poor, the marginalised, the sick, and the suffering, are all meant to teach mercy.  Everything in him speaks of mercy.  Nothing in him is devoid of compassion.”  Pope Francis, Misericordiae Vultus 8.

We all know someone who is ill.  Could you visit them or call them on the phone?  Remember to pray for the sick, that they may experience the healing only Christ can bring.
