Could those who are last to leave the Parish grounds

in the evening please close the car park gates.

As we look towards the future in our diocese we have learned quite a bit from the experience of other dioceses in Ireland and around the world. They have learned that successful communities are focussed on mission, have good working relationships between clergy and laity and a substantial population. They should reflect existing community networks and, in rural areas, they should be gathered around a central hub. You are invited to read the Consultation Document available on the Diocesan Website perhaps paying particular attention to our local proposed Pastoral Community. www.downandconnor.org

Due to the many financial appeals to parishioners, it has become necessary to regularise special collections and fundraising events, so that parishioners don’t feel overburdened.

Therefore, permission to collect money within the Parish will be required. If the fundraising event is being hosted outside the Parish, organisers will be able to advertise in the bulletin, but will not be able to market the event in the Parish grounds. In order for collections to be evenly spread out and for parishioners not to feel overburdened, an application form needs to be completed at least 3 months before the event. Application forms are available to download from the parish website or from Philomena in the Parish Office.

The Sacrament of Baptism is one of the most joyful occasions both for the family and the Parish and everyone is welcome. The next Baptismal Course takes place this Tuesday in the Iona Room from 8.00pm to 9.30pm, where parents will receive their Baptismal pack and can arrange the date for their child’s Baptism. Baptisms in the Parish take place on the first and last Sunday of each month and attendance at the course is arranged through Philomena in the Parish Office.

PASTORAL LETTER – following the publication of Pope Francis’ World Day of Peace Message 2015 Bishop Treanor has published a Pastoral Letter on the topic of Slavery & Human Exploitation.  The Pastoral Letter explores themes such as human dignity, Catholic social teaching, our attitude towards the marginalised and our baptismal and corporate responsibility to do what we can to address these issues in our parish community and in our society.

BAPTISM – we welcome into the parish family Daniel Thomas Harkin who was baptised in St. Colmcilles last weekend.
