1st Reading   (2 Samuel 12:7-10, 13)  The Lord forgives your sin; you are not to die.

2nd Reading   (Galatians 2:16, 19-21)  I live now not with my own life but with the life of

                        Christ who lives in me.

Acclamation   Alleluia, alleluia!  I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, says the Lord;

                        no one can come to the Father except through me.  Alleluia!

Gospel          (Luke 7:36-8:3)  Her many sins have been forgiven, or she would not have

                        shown such great love.

Children:      Jesus was eating a meal with an important person when a woman came in.

Everyone thought she was a bad person.  She brought expensive ointment and

covered Jesus’ feet in ointment and kisses.  She was showing Jesus how sorry

she was for the things she had done wrong.  Jesus forgave her sins.  This

woman was forgiven, and Jesus welcomed her back as a friend.

Communion  There is one thing I ask of the Lord, only this do I seek: to live in the house

ADORATION

 

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT –  is held in the parish every Monday and Tuesday from 2.00pm to 9.00pm in the Chapel of Adoration. Entrance is from the outside door at the left side of the Church.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT ROTA – To date more than 40 Volunteers have signed up to spend an hour with Jesus. However more Volunteers are required on Mondays and Tuesdays to cover the hourly slots: 4.00pm-5.00pm; 5.00pm6.00pm; 6.00pm-7.00pm. The Blessed Sacrament may not be left without Adorers being present. Volunteer slips are available at  the back of the Church and completed ones can be left in the Bulletin box.

Please consider giving an hour to Jesus in his sacrament and receive the blessings that flow from this.

CHAPEL OF ADORATION – The Committee wish to thank the generosity of so many parishioners who sponsored or made contributions towards the cost of items to furnish the Chapel. All contributions are acknowledged and many thanks to all who made anonymous donations. Arrangements are already being made to order some items.

Those who still wish to contribute to setting up this Chapel of Adoration may do so. Envelopes and slips can be found on the table at the back of the Church and returned to the parish office or placed in the Offertory collection baskets.

 

YEAR OF MERCY – CARE FOR THE SICK

 

“The signs he works, especially in favour of sinners, the poor, the marginalised, the sick, and the suffering, are all meant to teach mercy.  Everything in him speaks of mercy.  Nothing in him is devoid of compassion.”  Pope Francis, Misericordiae Vultus 8.

We all know someone who is ill.  Could you visit them or call them on the phone?  Remember to pray for the sick, that they may experience the healing only Christ can bring.

 

ARRANGEMENTS FOR BAPTISM IN OUR PARISH

 

The Sacrament of Baptism is one of the most joyful occasions both for the family and the Parish and everyone is welcome.  The next Baptismal Course takes place on Tuesday 21st June in the Iona Room from 8.00pm to 9.30pm, where parents will receive their Baptismal pack and can arrange the date for their child’s Baptism. Baptisms in the Parish take place on the first and last Sunday of each month and attendance at the course is arranged through Philomena in the Parish Office.

Will be held from this Wednesday 15th to Thursday 23rd  June.                       There are new Novena times.

LEADERSHIP PROGRAMMErunning alongside the Going for Gold children’s scheme there will be a leadership training programme for young people aged 14 – 18 years.  The next training night is Friday 24th June, 7.00pm – 8.30pm.  Additional adult volunteers over 18 years of age are also needed for Going for Gold. YOUTH 2000 SUMMER FESTIVAL  –  Cistercian College, Roscrea, Co. Entrance           The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

Antiphon          The Lord is the stronghold of my life; whom should I dread?  When those who do evil draw near, they stumble and fall.

1st Reading       (1 Kings 17:17-24)  Look, your son is alive.

Response          I will praise you, Lord, you have rescued me.

2nd Reading     (Galations 1:11-19)  God revealed his Son to me, so that I might preach the Good News about him to the pagans.

Acclamation      Alleluia, alleluia! May the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ enlighten the eyes of our mind, so that we can see what hope his call holds for us. Alleluia!

Gospel              (Luke 7:11-17)  Young man, I tell you to get up.

Children           Jesus sees a mother crying because her only son has died.  Jesus is so sad to see her crying that he touches the man’s coffin and makes him become alive again.  Everyone who sees this is amazed that Jesus has the power to bring people back from the dead.

EXAM BUDDIES–  all students  preparing for exams are invited to take an exam pack from the table in the Church porch and to place their name on the Exam Buddies notice board there. Parishioners are invited to place their name on the Prayer Sponsors board and then pray for the students over the exam period in May and June.

GOING FOR GOLD – is a five day holiday club for children currently in Pre School to Primary 4. The children will enjoy the story of David and Goliath each day. They will learn that Jesus is always with us to protect us and give us courage and that it doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside, it’s what in your heart that counts. They will also be encouraged to strive for their best in everything, as the summer Olympians will be doing too. The daily themes and messages are reinforced through arts and crafts, singing, dance, sports and games. It will take place in the Parochial Hall from Monday 8th – Friday 12th August. He fed them with the finest wheat and satisfied them with honey from the rock.
1st Reading (Genesis 14:18-20)  He brought bread and wine.
Psalm You are a priest forever, a priest like Melchizedek of old.
2nd Reading (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)   Everytime you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are prcolaiming the Lord’s death.
Acclamation Alleluia, alleluia!  I am the living bread which has come down from heaven, says the Lord.  Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever.  Alleluia!
Gospel (Luke 9:11-17)  They all ate as much as they wanted.
Children Jesus taught the huge crowd all about his kingdom and he healed those who were sick.  It was past lunchtime but there was no food.  The disciples only had five loaves and two fish and there were more than five thousand people!  Jesus blessed the food.  He then broke the bread and passed the food to his friends to hand out to all the people.  Everyone had enough to eat and there were even twelve baskets of scraps left.

The Sacrament of Baptism is one of the most joyful occasions both for the family and the Parish and everyone is welcome.  The next Baptismal Course takes place on Tuesday 21st June in the Iona Room from 8.00pm to 9.30pm, where parents will receive their Baptismal pack and can arrange the date for their child’s Baptism. Baptisms in the Parish take place on the first and last Sunday of each month and attendance at the course is arranged through Philomena in the Parish Office.

PARISH FAMILY

PARISH OFFICE  –  please note the new office hours 10.00am to 1.00pm Monday to Friday.  Philomena will no longer be carrying out secretarial duties in the parish, but will be focusing solely on parish finance.  On behalf of the parish I wish to thank her for all her hard work over the previous 25 years as Parish Secretary.   The office will be closed this Monday.

FIRST FRIDAY – Father Ciaran will attend the sick and housebound in the parish this Tuesday.

DAILY MEDITATION FOR JUNE  – copies of “Bible Alive” are available at the back of the Church.

EXAM BUDDIES–  all students  preparing for exams are invited to take an exam pack from the table in the Church porch and to place their name on the Exam Buddies notice board there. Parishioners are invited to place their name on the Prayer Sponsors board and then pray for the students over the exam period in May and June.

WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES 2018  –  Pope Francis has chosen Ireland to host the 9th World Meeting of Families during 2018.  The dates and theme of the Meeting will be announced by Pope Francis.  This gathering is expected to attract thousands of Catholic families from around the globe to Ireland.  It is hoped that this very special pastoral initiative will present all of us in the Church with the opportunity, and the challenge, to renew, support and strengthen Irish families in their commitment to their faith.  Hosting a global event of this size requires a huge amount of planning and financial outlay on behalf of the host country.  To support the hosting of the event three national collection will take place, the first of which will take place this weekend at all Masses.

The Monthly Stipend Collection will be taken up at all Masses next weekend.

YOUTH SUMMER PROGRAMME

GOING FOR GOLD – is a five day holiday club for children currently in Pre School to Primary 4. The children will enjoy the story of David and Goliath each day. They will learn that Jesus is always with us to protect us and give us courage and that it doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside, it’s what in your heart that counts. They will also be encouraged to strive for their best in everything, as the summer Olympians will be doing too. The daily themes and messages are reinforced through arts and crafts, singing, dance, sports and games. It will take place in the Parochial Hall from Monday 8th – Friday 12th August. LEADERSHIP PROGRAMMErunning alongside the Going for Gold children’s scheme there will be a leadership training programme for young people aged 14 – 18 years.  The first training night is on Friday 27th May from 6.30pm – 8.30pm, followed by Friday 24th June, 6.30pm – 8.30pm. Young volunteers need to attend both nights.  Additional adult volunteers over 18 years of age are also needed for Going for Gold. STEAK AND SLIDERS NIGHT  –  book your place now for the annual Steak and Sliders BBQ  in the Hall this Friday evening.  Finest sirloin steaks, chicken fillets or vegetarian option with fabulous salads and sides plus the ever popular ice cream sliders all for £15. AL-ANON OPEN MEETING  –  on Saturday 11th June at 12:00 noon in the Montforde Room,  Skainos Centre,  Newtownards Rd.  AA is a well known fellowship providing support for alcoholics.  Al-Anon, providing help and support to family and friends affected by someone else’s drinking, is less well known.  An Al-Anon group meets weekly on Saturdays at 12:00 noon in the Montforde room at the Skainos Centre. Al-Anon groups meet every day in and around Belfast.  This invitation is extended in the hope of raising awareness of the invaluable support available.

FORGIVENESS:  THE KEY TO HEALING AND HAPPINESS  –  this retreat will provide an opportunity to reflect on ways to deal with life’s hurts, disappointments and the constant challenge to forgive, so that we will be better able to let go, move on, and find peace and happiness.  The retreat will be held in Dromantine and will be facilitated by Fr. YOUTH 2000 SUMMER FESTIVAL  –  Cistercian College, Roscrea, Co.
