Diocesan Novena to The Sacred Heart: Renew Our Hearts

Down & Connor Diocesan Novena to The Sacred Heart: Renew Our Hearts Thursday 30th May to  Thursday 7th June , the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

As Bishop Alan McGuckian SJ begins his time as bishop of the diocese he would love everyone in the diocese to join him in nine days of prayer, asking Jesus to give us a new heart. Many people among us are weary or wounded, hurting in one way or another. He wants us to make a novena for each other, aware that we are brothers and sisters in Christ.

The prayers will be available in a booklet you can pick up at Mass or read online by downloading from the link below; it will also include a piece of scripture and a reflection for each day for those who wish to go a little deeper.  Bishop Alan’s hope is that this novena will be prayed either individually or together by parishes, groups, schools or families.  Even young children can join in with the short prayers!

Alleluia, Christ is Risen!

It can feel a bit jarring: the forty days of Lent suddenly give way to the joy of Easter. The seeds of our prayer, fasting and almsgiving burst into bloom, and we stand in wonder at the Risen Christ. God triumphs over death. And yet, for so many of us, the sacrifices and challenges of Lent seem to march on in our lives.

However our God of surprises beckons us forward, invites us to step into something new. And jarring as it may feel, this seemingly hidden juxtaposition between fasting and flourishing, almsgiving and Alleluia, the Spirit is still at work, still creating something new — even if we cannot yet see it.

THE LORD IS RISEN

THE LORD IS RISEN

Praying that you have joy-filled and happy Easter.
May God bless you this Easter Time
