Children Jesus tells the story of the servant who comes in from a hard day’s work. He then cooks and cleans for his master because that is his job. In the same way, we are expected to work hard for God without expecting thanks.

WEEKLY OFFERING

APOSTOLIC WORK

The first meeting of Apostolic Work will be held in the Iona Room this Tuesday 4th

October at 8.00pm.   We need some new members too please.  Perhaps anyone who has an interest could come without any obligation to follow up.  Just see and hear what we are all about!   We would love to welcome you.

 

ST COLMCILLE’S GUIDE UNIT WISH TO THANK

Families and Parishioners, who over the past number of years,  have helped the Guide Unit and now it’s time for us to thank you!

We are inviting you to the Guide Den this Wednesday 5th October between 6.30pm and 8.00pm to get a small insight into Guiding. We will be having a campfire, singing songs and making smores. This is also a great way to get to see our Unit in action, especially if you are interested in joining us or becoming a leader. We can’t wait to see you bring your family and friends. Bring a camp chair or a blanket if you wish.

 

CAMEL RACING & DISCO 

This Friday 7th October come join in the fun and take part in the Camel Racing & Disco in the Parochial Hall. SAFEGUARDING INFORMATION SESSIONS

Parish Volunteers please note that it is a mandatory part of the Diocesan policy on safeguarding children and adults that anyone volunteering in the parish must attend one of these sessions. If you are new to volunteering, are waiting on your application to be processed or have been previously vetted and have not attended the session please do so.

 

The next information sessions will be held in St Malachy’s Parish Centre, Alfred St, Belfast.

The session for those volunteering with adults will be held on:   next Monday 10th October from 7.00pm -9.00pm.

The session for those volunteering with children and young people will be held on:  next Wednesday 12th October from 7.00pm -9.00pm.

ROSARY PROCESSION

Annual Legion of Mary Rosary Procession, leaving St John’s Church, Falls Road next Sunday 9th October, at 3.00pm, proceeding to St Michael the Archangel Church, at Finaghy Road North, for Benediction and an address on the Rosary.

 

PARENTING TEENAGERS COURSE

 

Would you like to improve your skills as a parent / carer of a teenager? You will learn practical skills to help improve and strengthen family life at the course in Knock Presbyterian Church, held on 5 Tuesday evenings, starting next Tuesday 11th October.

CELEBRATING AND SUPPORTING FAMILIES

The Down and Connor Family Life Forum has organised a Diocesan event to celebrate the excellent services that are offered to families in parish and to acknowledge the generosity of many people who maintain and develop those services.   It will be hosted by Bishop Treanor next Thursday 13th October, 7.00pm, in St. Joseph’s College, Ravenhill Road, Belfast.

Information about the work of the various organisations / groups, will be made available at the event.  The preparations for the World Meeting of Families in 2018 will also be outlined, along with some suggestions as to how Diocesan and Parish organisations might become involved.

MISSION MONTH OF OCTOBER

 

We are once again celebrating the Mission Month of October.  Mission Month gives us all the opportunity to reflect on our  baptismal call to bring Christ to others, which is a privilege in itself.  The gift we have been given, we are asked to give.
