14th Week in Ordinary Time

Readings : Sunday Cycle A, Weekday Cycle 2, Psalter Week 2

Entrance               Your merciful love, O God, we have received in the midst of your temple.  Antiphon          Your praise, O God, like your name, reaches the end of the earth; your right                                     hand is filled with saving justice.

1st Reading           (Zechariah 9:9-10)  See now, your king comes humbly to you.

Psalm                    I will bless your name for ever, O God my King.

2nd Reading          (Romans 8:9, 11-13)  If by the Spirit you put an end to the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

Acclamation        Alleluia, alleluia!  Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for revealing the mysteries of the kingdom to mere children.  Alleluia!

Gospel                   (Matthew 11:25-30)   I am gentle and humble of heart.

Children               Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads and I will give you rest.  If you wear my yoke and follow my teachings you will find the weight of your troubles is lighter.”

Communion        Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed the man who seeks refuge in Antiphon            him.

REPORTS

YOUTH LINK AWARD – At the Youth Link NI awards ceremony last Tuesday,  the leaders of the four main Churches were present.  Bishop Noel Treanor was invited by Youth Link NI to present a surprise special award to Noeleen Dunn for significant contribution to Community Relations and Youth Work. This

highlights all the great participation of St Colmcille’s children, young people and young adults in parish youth ministry projects. Noeleen  would also like to acknowledge that without the 50+ volunteers currently working with children and young people in our parish  in youth ministry programmes, events and activities, none of this work would be achievable

CONGRATULATIONS – to Hans Abraham, Ciara Campbell, Liam Greene, Andrew Johnston, Ellen Long, Kerry McEvoy, Piotr Lata, Anna McLaughlin, Lisa Owens and Timothy Stacey who were presented with their OCN Level 1 Practical Youth Ministry Skills Leadership certificate by the Lord Mayor Nichola Mallon last Tuesday at the Youth Link NI awards ceremony. Youth Link NI is the inter-church youth service for Northern Ireland.  It was established by the Catholic Church, the Church of Ireland, the Methodist Church in Ireland and the Presbyterian Church in Ireland in 1991. It exists to provide support and training for youth workers and community relations experiences for young people. Many of our parish young adults have had opportunities for Youth Ministry leadership training during the past four years with Youth Link NI and Paddy Norwod has, through this opportunity, progressed to a Youth and Community degree course.
